XRP traded near $1.31 on October 19, 2026, according to CoinGecko, down about 29% since January 1 and 64% below its July 2025 record of $3.65. Our base case puts XRP at $1.20 to $1.55 at the end of 2026, centered near $1.40, with a bull case of $1.70 to $2.40 and a bear case of $0.95 to $1.10. Standard Chartered’s year-end target of $2.80, cut from $8 in February, would require XRP to more than double in ten weeks.
The previous version of this forecast, published in May, treated the CLARITY Act as the deciding variable for 2026. That catalyst has not arrived: on September 15 the Senate voted 49 to 50 on a motion that needed 60 votes to bring the bill to the floor, and passage in this Congress is now widely viewed as unlikely. XRP fell below $1 in August for the first time since November 2024, rebounded to $1.70 on August 22 and has drifted lower again as US spot XRP ETFs posted their first weekly outflow in 14 weeks. Forecasting models now place XRP mostly between $1.26 and $1.60 at the end of December, while traders on Kalshi price about a one-in-five chance that XRP trades above $2 before the year is out.
What Is XRP?
XRP is the native asset of the XRP Ledger (XRPL), a public blockchain built for fast, low-cost payments. The ledger went live in June 2012 and was developed by David Schwartz, Jed McCaleb and Arthur Britto. It does not use mining or staking. Under the XRP Ledger Consensus Protocol, a group of validators agrees on a new version of the ledger every three to five seconds, and any change to the protocol must hold the support of at least 80% of the validators on the default list for two weeks before it activates.
A standard transaction costs 0.00001 XRP, a tiny fraction of a cent, and every new account must hold a reserve of 1 XRP. All 100 billion XRP were created at launch, so no new tokens are issued; the circulating supply grows only when Ripple releases XRP from the escrow accounts it set up in December 2017.
Ripple, the San Francisco company led by CEO Brad Garlinghouse, uses XRP in its cross-border payment products and has expanded into institutional finance. It runs Ripple Prime, a prime brokerage built on its $1.25 billion acquisition of Hidden Road in 2025, and issues RLUSD, a US dollar stablecoin with a market capitalization of about $2.42 billion on October 19, according to CoinGecko.
The official Ripple website and the XRP Ledger Foundation provide current documentation on the protocol, developer tools and enterprise partnerships.

XRP Price History: From Legal Battles to Institutional Adoption
XRP traded at fractions of a cent in its early years. The 2017 to 2018 bull run took it to $3.84 on January 4, 2018, according to CoinMarketCap, when XRP was briefly the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. CoinGecko weights exchange prices differently and records a lower 2018 peak, which is why it lists the $3.65 reached in July 2025 as the all-time high. The bear market that followed took XRP below $0.20 by the end of 2019.
The defining event of XRP’s modern history was the lawsuit the SEC filed in December 2020, alleging that Ripple’s XRP sales were an unregistered securities offering. Several US exchanges delisted or suspended XRP, and institutional capital stayed away for years. In July 2023, Judge Analisa Torres ruled that XRP sold on public exchanges to retail buyers was not offered as a security, while Ripple’s direct sales to institutions were. The court entered final judgment in August 2024 with a civil penalty of about $125 million, and in August 2025 both sides dropped their appeals, ending the case.
The 2024 to 2025 cycle took XRP back to record territory. The token climbed from under $0.60 before the November 2024 US election to $3.65 in July 2025, a new high in CoinGecko’s data, but it could not hold the gains: XRP opened 2025 at about $2.08 and closed the year at about $1.84, a loss of roughly 12%.
2026 has been harder. XRP started the year at $1.84, peaked near $2.41 on January 6 and then fell for most of the year, slipping below $1 in August and bottoming near $0.99 on August 14, about 59% below the January high. One regulatory question moved in XRP’s favor along the way. On March 17, 2026, the SEC and the CFTC issued a joint interpretive release that sorts crypto assets into five categories, and the SEC identified XRP as an example of a digital commodity, according to the Bitwise XRP ETF prospectus filed with the SEC. After the August low, XRP rebounded to $1.70 on August 22 and has since eased back to about $1.31.
How Did 2025 XRP Predictions Hold Up?
The 2025 record is the best test of how much weight to put on XRP forecasts. The two catalysts that bullish targets depended on both arrived: the SEC case ended in August 2025, and the main US spot XRP ETFs began trading in November. XRP still finished the year below where it started, and most published targets for the end of 2025 missed by a wide margin.
| Forecast | Published | Prediction | What Happened |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Chartered | April 8, 2025 | $5.50 by the end of 2025 | Closed 2025 at $1.84, 67% lower |
| Bitwise (max case) | March 27, 2025 | $4.48 by the end of 2025 | Closed 2025 at $1.84, 59% lower |
| Bitwise (bull case) | March 27, 2025 | 2025 peak of $3.90 | Peaked at $3.65 in July, 6% lower |
| Finder panel of 17 specialists | July 2025 | $2.80 by the end of 2025 | Closed 2025 at $1.84, 34% lower |
Three things went wrong for the bullish calls. The peak came in July, months before the main spot ETFs launched, so the products that were supposed to drive the next leg arrived in a falling market. The October 10, 2025 crash, when more than $19 billion of leveraged crypto positions were liquidated, knocked XRP off a level of about $2.80, and the token finished the year 34% below it. And ETF demand, while steady, has been modest: cumulative net inflows reached about $1.80 billion in eleven months, a fraction of what spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted in their first year. The forecasts that came closest were the cautious ones, which is worth remembering when reading the targets below.
The CLARITY Act: From Biggest Catalyst to Stalled Bill
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY Act) is the US market structure bill that would divide oversight of crypto assets between the SEC and the CFTC and set a statutory test for which tokens count as digital commodities. The House passed it on July 17, 2025 by a vote of 294 to 134, and the Senate Banking Committee advanced a revised version in May 2026, when this page described it as the biggest catalyst in XRP’s history.
That window has closed for now. On September 15, 2026, the Senate failed to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed by a vote of 49 to 50, short of the 60 votes needed. The main disputes were over ethics provisions covering federal officials’ crypto holdings and over yield on stablecoins. Senator Thom Tillis voted no so he could move to reconsider, which keeps a path to revive the bill, but with the House out until after the November 3 midterm elections, passage in this Congress is widely viewed as unlikely. A bill that is not enacted by January 2027 has to be reintroduced and go through committee again. Our report on the failed Senate vote has the details.
What the stall changes for XRP:
- XRP’s treatment as a digital commodity rests on the March 17 SEC and CFTC interpretation, which a future commission could revise, rather than on a statute.
- The near-term rulebook will come from the agencies. The SEC’s proposed Regulation Crypto Assets, published on August 18, is open for comment until October 20, and the CFTC sent its own rulemaking to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs for review on September 17.
- The catalyst that bullish 2026 targets depended on, a signed law before year-end, is effectively off the table, so 2026 forecasts now depend on fund flows, the broader market and XRP Ledger adoption.
- A revived bill in 2027 would be a fresh upside catalyst. Our CLARITY Act explainer covers what it would do.
XRP Spot ETFs: The Institutional Infrastructure
US investors can now buy XRP through six spot funds. REX-Osprey listed XRPR in September 2025 under a different fund structure, and Canary Capital’s XRPC, billed as the first US spot XRP ETF, began trading on Nasdaq on November 13, 2025. Bitwise followed on November 20, Grayscale (GXRP) and Franklin Templeton (XRPZ) on November 24, and 21Shares (TOXR) on December 11. Our XRP ETF guide explains each ticker.
Demand has been steady but modest. Cumulative net inflows reached about $1.80 billion by October 16, 2026, and total net assets stood at about $1.47 billion, according to SoSoValue data; net assets sit below inflows because XRP has fallen since most of the money came in. Bitwise leads with about $688 million of cumulative inflows, ahead of Franklin Templeton’s XRPZ at $509 million and Canary’s XRPC at $487 million as of October 12. In the week to October 16 the funds recorded a net outflow of $1.84 million, ending a run of 13 straight weekly inflows, and Friday’s $2.47 million redemption from XRPC accounted for the swing.
For price forecasts, the scale of demand matters more than the streak. Standard Chartered’s original $8 target for 2026 was tied in part to ETF approval and inflows, and when Geoffrey Kendrick cut the target to $2.80 in February, he cited ETF outflows, high interest rates and geopolitical uncertainty. A sustained return to inflows would support the bull case below, while a string of outflows would undercut the main source of new demand XRP has had this year.
The XRP Ledger in 2026: Real Usage, Not Speculation
The most important protocol story for 2026 is native lending. The Lending Protocol (XLS-66) would let institutions lend and borrow directly on the XRP Ledger, with single-asset vaults (XLS-65) pooling the liquidity. Neither is live. On October 19 the Lending Protocol amendment had 19 of the 29 validator votes it needs and the vault amendment had 21, according to the XRP Ledger’s known amendments page, and neither has started its two-week countdown, so native lending cannot launch before early November at the earliest. Our report on xrpld 3.4.0 and the lending amendments has the technical details.
A related amendment, fixCleanup3_4_0, has exactly the 29 votes it needs and is scheduled to activate at about 09:34 UTC on October 23. It closes a loophole that could let an account authorized only to burn tokens create new ones, and it changes how vaults round amounts. Validators also installed an emergency release, xrpld 3.4.1, within a day of its September 25 publication to patch a 64-bit overflow bug dating to 2015; Ripple says the flaw was found through its bug bounty program before anyone exploited it.
Usage data is mixed. XRP Ledger payment volume fell to about 119.5 million XRP on October 17, 72% below the previous day and well under the 30-day average of about 629 million, according to XRPSCAN. CryptoQuant data put XRP held on exchanges at 11.81 billion, a level in the 99th percentile of the past year, which usually means more supply is available to sell.
The institutional build-out around the token continues. RLUSD has grown to about $2.42 billion in market capitalization. Ripple Prime added perpetual swaps on more than 100 real-world asset markets on October 15, with RLUSD accepted as collateral, although the announcement does not mention XRP. And Evernorth, the Nasdaq-listed company (XRPN) that holds about 473 million XRP, plans to lend from its treasury once native lending is switched on; our report on its Armada merger has the deal terms.
XRP Price Predictions Compared: Banks, Models and Prediction Markets
XRP forecasts disagree mainly because they measure different things. Bank research desks publish targets based on fund flows and adoption, algorithmic sites extrapolate from price history and volatility, and prediction markets show what traders will pay for a given outcome. The “price prediction” pages run by exchanges such as Binance, Coinbase and Kraken apply a default growth rate of 5% a year that users can change, so they are calculators rather than forecasts. The table lists the main published figures as of October 19, 2026.
| Source | Type | End of 2026 | 2030 | Published |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Chartered | Bank research | $2.80 | $28.00 | February 12, 2026 |
| 21Shares | Asset manager outlook | $1.60 to $2.69 (peak range during 2026) | Not published | January 23, 2026 |
| CoinCodex | Algorithmic model | $1.26 to $1.36 (average $1.31) | $4.70 to $4.75 (average $4.72) | October 19, 2026 |
| Changelly | Technical analysis | $1.41 to $1.50 (average $1.46) | $3.61 to $5.38 (average $4.60) | October 19, 2026 |
| Telegaon | Scenario model | $0.90 to $2.40 (base $1.60) | $1.60 to $7.00 (base $3.80) | September 16, 2026 |
| CoinLore | Scenario model | $0.54 to $3.63 (base $0.90) | $1.32 to $8.96 (base $2.20) | October 19, 2026 |
| Gate | Historical data model | $1.24 to $1.53 (average $1.31) | $2.34 to $2.95 (average $2.52) | Not dated |
| PricePredictions.com | Technical indicators | Not published | $1.80 to $4.66 (mid $2.92) | October 12, 2026 |
| Kalshi | Prediction market | 21% chance XRP trades above $2 before December 31 | Not available | October 19, 2026 |
| Polymarket | Prediction market | 12% chance XRP reaches $2.60; 6.65% chance it reaches $3 | Not available | October 19, 2026 |
Three things stand out. First, the algorithmic models sit close to the current price: the median of their year-end figures is about $1.31, so they expect little change by December. Second, Standard Chartered is the clear outlier. Its $2.80 target is more than twice the model median, while prediction markets price only a 7% to 9% chance that XRP trades at $3 this year. Third, the long-term spread is enormous: 2030 figures run from $1.32 to $28, which says more about uncertainty than about any single number.
AI chatbots draw on the same sources. ChatGPT’s answer to the query “xrp price prediction 2026” on October 19 put XRP’s central year-end estimate at about $1.55, with a working range of $0.65 to $3.00, built from published forecasts rather than a model of its own.
XRP Price Prediction by Year
Forecasts below combine our 2026 scenarios with third-party models for later years. Not financial advice.
| Year | Bear Case | Base Case | Bull Case |
|---|---|---|---|
| End of 2026 | $0.95 to $1.10 | $1.20 to $1.55 | $1.70 to $2.40 |
| 2027 | $0.70 | $1.68 | $4.58 |
| 2028 | $0.94 | $1.94 | $6.31 |
| 2029 | $0.98 | $2.50 | $10.83 |
| 2030 | $1.32 | $3.36 | $8.96 |
| 2035 | $2.20 | $5.92 | $19.36 |
| 2040 | $3.00 | $8.02 | $38.51 |
How this table is built: the 2026 row is our own scenario analysis, based on current chart levels, fund flows and on-chain data. Rows for 2027 to 2040 summarize six forecasting models (CoinCodex, Changelly, CoinLore, Telegaon, Gate and PricePredictions.com; only the first four publish 2035 and 2040 figures) as of October 19, 2026. The bear case is the lowest published low, the base case is the median of their average or base-case figures, and the bull case is the highest published high. Standard Chartered’s targets ($2.80 for 2026, $7 for 2027 and $28 for 2030) are listed separately. Speculative, not financial advice.
XRP Price Prediction 2026
With about ten weeks left in the year, XRP trades near $1.31, down about 6% over the past week. Sunday’s low near $1.26 is the first support, and analyst Ali Martinez says $1.25 needs to hold to keep a possible inverse head-and-shoulders pattern intact. Above the price, $1.33 is the first resistance analysts mark, $1.39 is the bottom of the band that capped XRP last week, $1.56 is the level Martinez says would open a path toward $2, and $1.70 marks both the August 22 rebound high and the weekly close that technical analysts flag as the trigger for a breakout. Momentum is weak rather than washed out, with the daily RSI near 38.
The calendar is busy. The fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment is due to activate on October 23, Ripple’s Swell conference runs October 27 to 29 in New York, and the Federal Reserve announces its next rate decision on October 28 after raising rates by 25 basis points in September to a range of 3.75% to 4.00%. On November 1, two escrow objects holding 1 billion XRP become eligible for release; Ripple re-locked 700 million of the 1 billion released on October 1, and our explainer on Ripple’s monthly escrow unlocks shows how the mechanism works. The November 3 midterm elections will shape whether the CLARITY Act gets another vote, and daily ETF flows and the Lending Protocol vote count are the two XRP-specific numbers to watch through December.
Bear case ($0.95 to $1.10, down 16% to 27%): XRP closes below $1.25, ETF redemptions continue for several weeks, and a weaker Bitcoin drags altcoins lower. A retest of the August low near $0.99 becomes likely, with exchange reserves near one-year highs supplying sellers. Polymarket prices about an 11% chance that XRP drops to $0.80 before the end of the year.
Base case ($1.20 to $1.55, centered near $1.40): XRP holds roughly between $1.20 and $1.55, ETF flows are roughly flat, and the Lending Protocol vote does not reach 29 before December, so the market waits for 2027 catalysts. This range matches the year-end figures from CoinCodex ($1.26 to $1.36), Changelly ($1.41 to $1.50) and Gate (average $1.31).
Bull case ($1.70 to $2.40, up 30% to 83%): XRP reclaims $1.56 and posts a weekly close above $1.70, ETF inflows return, validators move the Lending Protocol toward activation, and Bitcoin recovers. The top of the range would retest the January high near $2.41. Kalshi traders put the chance of XRP trading above $2 before December 31 at about 21%.
What about Standard Chartered’s $2.80? Reaching the bank’s year-end target would take a 114% rally in about ten weeks, to a level XRP has not traded at since the October 10, 2025 crash. Prediction markets treat that as a long shot: Kalshi gives about a 9% chance of XRP trading above $3 this year, and Polymarket about 7%.
XRP Price Prediction 2027
For 2027, the median of the six forecasting models is about $1.68, with a range from $0.70 in CoinLore’s bear case to $4.58 in its bull case. Standard Chartered cut its 2027 target to $7 from $10.40 in February, which would put XRP’s market capitalization near $440 billion at today’s supply.
Will XRP break its all-time high in 2027? A new record would require a rise of about 179% to beat CoinGecko’s $3.65, or 193% to beat CoinMarketCap’s $3.84, which implies a market capitalization of $230 billion to $242 billion at the current supply. Only CoinLore’s bull case ($4.58) and Standard Chartered’s $7 target clear that level in 2027; Telegaon’s bull case stops at $3.60, so a new all-time high next year sits outside most published forecasts.
The 2027 drivers are clearer than the numbers. A reintroduced CLARITY Act in the new Congress, native lending going live on the XRP Ledger, sustained ETF inflows and RLUSD growth would all add demand. Escrow releases add supply: if Ripple keeps re-locking about 70% of the XRP it releases, as it has over the past year, circulating supply grows by roughly 3.6 billion XRP a year.
XRP Price Prediction 2028
The next Bitcoin halving is expected around April 2028, and XRP’s past cycle peaks have come 11 to 18 months after a halving: January 2018 after the July 2016 halving, April 2021 after the May 2020 halving, and July 2025 after the April 2024 halving. If the pattern holds, which it may not, the strongest part of the next cycle would fall in 2029 rather than 2028, and the model figures reflect that: CoinLore’s bull case rises from $6.31 in 2028 to $10.83 in 2029.
The model median for 2028 is about $1.94, with a range of $0.94 to $6.31. Standard Chartered’s 2028 figure of $12.60, as reported by 24/7 Wall St after the February note, would imply a market capitalization of nearly $800 billion at today’s supply.
What changes by 2028 is the plumbing. If lending, vaults and RLUSD settlement are live and the ETFs have a multi-year track record, XRP demand would rest less on retail speculation. The open question is value accrual: XRP holders receive no share of Ripple’s revenue and the token pays no staking yield, so adoption has to show up as demand for XRP itself.
XRP Price Prediction 2030
Published forecasts for 2030 differ by a factor of more than 20. The median of the six models is about $3.36, with a low of $1.32 and a high of $8.96 in CoinLore’s bull case. Standard Chartered still carries $28 for 2030, the figure it kept unchanged when it cut its near-term targets. A Finder panel of 17 specialists put XRP at $5.25 in 2030 in July 2025, and Bitwise’s March 2025 investment case ran from $0.13 in its bear case to $29.32 in its maximum case.
Market capitalization is the reality check. At today’s circulating supply of 63.13 billion XRP, $28 would value XRP at about $1.77 trillion, more than Bitcoin’s entire market capitalization today of about $1.66 trillion. With escrow releases at the current pace, circulating supply could approach 78 billion by 2030, which would put a $28 XRP above $2 trillion. The model median of about $3.36 would mean a market capitalization of roughly $210 billion to $260 billion, depending on how much supply has been released.
The bear argument for 2030 is the one that has followed XRP for a decade: network adoption does not automatically translate into token demand. Banks can use Ripple’s products, including RLUSD, without holding XRP, and the token has no dividend, fee distribution or staking mechanism, so its price has to rise through demand and supply alone.
XRP Price Prediction 2035 and 2040
Only four of the six models publish figures beyond 2032, and none claims to be reliable that far out; Telegaon, one of the model publishers, cautions that no method can reliably forecast crypto prices more than a year or two ahead. For 2035 the four models have a median of about $5.92 and a range of $2.20 to $19.36. For 2040 the median is about $8.02, with a range of $3.00 to $38.51.
In market capitalization terms, the 2040 median of about $8 would value XRP at roughly $506 billion at today’s supply, or about $802 billion if all 100 billion tokens were in circulation. The high end of $38.51 would imply $2.4 trillion to $3.9 trillion, close to or above the entire crypto market’s current value of about $2.75 trillion.
How High Can XRP Go?
In 2026, the realistic ceiling is the January high near $2.41. Over the next cycle, the line most bullish forecasts draw is a retest of the $3.65 to $3.84 record. Beyond that, the numbers stop being forecasts and become market capitalization arithmetic, which the table shows using today’s circulating supply of 63.13 billion XRP and the fully diluted supply of 99.99 billion.
| XRP Price | Gain From $1.31 | Market Cap (Circulating Supply) | Fully Diluted Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| $2 | +53% | $126 billion | $200 billion |
| $3 | +129% | $189 billion | $300 billion |
| $3.84 (record) | +193% | $242 billion | $384 billion |
| $5 | +282% | $316 billion | $500 billion |
| $10 | +663% | $631 billion | $1.00 trillion |
| $20 | +1,427% | $1.26 trillion | $2.00 trillion |
| $28 (Standard Chartered, 2030) | +2,037% | $1.77 trillion | $2.80 trillion |
| $100 | +7,534% | $6.31 trillion | $10.0 trillion |
| $500 | +38,068% | $31.6 trillion | $50.0 trillion |
| $1,000 | +76,236% | $63.1 trillion | $100 trillion |
For context, Bitcoin’s market capitalization is about $1.66 trillion and the whole crypto market is worth about $2.75 trillion, according to CoinGecko. A $10 XRP would need a market capitalization close to two-fifths of Bitcoin’s today. A $100 XRP would be worth more than twice the entire crypto market, and the $500 and $1,000 targets that circulate on social media would value XRP at more than 11 and 22 times the current crypto market. None of the forecasters cited on this page publishes a target above $40.
So the answer to how far XRP can go depends on the horizon: $1.20 to $1.55 by December in our base case, a retest of the record only in the bullish scenarios for 2028 to 2030, and anything above $10 only with adoption on a scale that no published model assumes, apart from Standard Chartered’s.
Bull Case vs. Bear Case
Bull case: ETF inflows resume and turn into a new streak, validators push the Lending Protocol and vault amendments past 29 votes so Evernorth and others can lend XRP on-chain, Bitcoin recovers, and a reintroduced CLARITY Act moves in the new Congress. XRP reclaims $1.70, ends 2026 between $1.70 and $2.40 and challenges its record in 2028 or 2029.
Bear case: ETF redemptions continue, exchange reserves stay near one-year highs, monthly escrow releases keep adding about 300 million XRP of net supply, the Fed keeps policy tight after September’s increase, and Congress does not revisit market structure legislation until late 2027. XRP loses $1.25, retests $1 and spends 2027 below its 2026 high.
The near-term evidence leans bearish: the ETF streak has ended, ledger payments are falling and exchange reserves are high. The bull case rests on dated catalysts that have not arrived yet, from the October 23 amendment activation to the lending vote. Our analysis of whether XRP is dead covers the long-term bear arguments in more detail.
Where to Buy XRP
XRP is available on Coinbase, Binance, Bybit, OKX, Kraken, Bitstamp and most other major exchanges, and the most liquid pair is XRP/USDT. For regulated exposure without holding the token directly, US investors can buy spot XRP ETFs from Bitwise (XRP), Canary (XRPC), Franklin Templeton (XRPZ), Grayscale (GXRP) and 21Shares (TOXR) through a standard brokerage account.
XRP can be self-custodied in any wallet that supports the XRP Ledger, including Ledger hardware wallets (see our Ledger Nano X review), Xaman (formerly Xumm), a popular XRPL mobile wallet, and Trust Wallet. Every XRP Ledger account must keep a 1 XRP reserve, a network rule that prevents spam accounts.

FAQ
What is the XRP price prediction for 2026?
Our base case puts XRP at $1.20 to $1.55 at the end of 2026, centered near $1.40, from about $1.31 on October 19. The bull case is $1.70 to $2.40 if ETF inflows return and XRP clears $1.70, and the bear case is $0.95 to $1.10 if $1.25 support fails. Standard Chartered’s $2.80 target would need a 114% rally in about ten weeks.
How high can XRP go?
In 2026, the realistic ceiling is the January high near $2.41. Over the next cycle, the most bullish forecasts point to a retest of the $3.65 to $3.84 record. Beyond that, market capitalization sets the limits: at today’s supply of 63.13 billion XRP, $10 implies about $631 billion, $100 about $6.3 trillion and $1,000 about $63 trillion, far above the entire crypto market’s $2.75 trillion.
Will XRP break its all-time high in 2027?
Most published forecasts say no. A new record would require a rise of about 179% to beat CoinGecko’s $3.65 or 193% to beat CoinMarketCap’s $3.84, from about $1.31. The median of six forecasting models is about $1.68 for 2027, and only CoinLore’s bull case of $4.58 and Standard Chartered’s $7 target clear the record. XRP’s past cycle peaks came 11 to 18 months after a Bitcoin halving.
How accurate were XRP price predictions for 2025?
Most were too high. XRP opened 2025 at about $2.08, peaked at $3.65 in July and closed the year at about $1.84. Standard Chartered had forecast $5.50 for the end of 2025, Bitwise’s maximum case was $4.48 and a Finder panel of 17 specialists expected $2.80. Bitwise’s bull-case peak of $3.90 came closest, within about 6% of the actual July high.
What is the CLARITY Act and why does it matter for XRP?
The CLARITY Act is the US market structure bill that would split crypto oversight between the SEC and the CFTC and set a statutory test for digital commodities. It passed the House in July 2025, but a Senate cloture vote failed 49 to 50 on September 15, 2026. Without it, XRP’s commodity status rests on the March 2026 SEC and CFTC interpretation rather than on law.
How many XRP are there?
All 100 billion XRP were created when the XRP Ledger launched in 2012, and no new tokens can be issued. About 63.13 billion are in circulation, total supply is about 99.99 billion after small amounts were burned as fees, and Ripple holds about 31.4 billion in escrow. Up to 1 billion XRP unlocks each month, and Ripple has re-locked about 70% of the XRP released over the past year.
Is XRP a good investment?
That depends on risk tolerance and time horizon, and XRP is a high-risk asset: it trades about 64% below its July 2025 record and has fallen about 29% in 2026. Supporters point to spot XRP ETFs with about $1.80 billion of cumulative inflows, the RLUSD stablecoin and the XRP Ledger’s coming lending protocol. Skeptics note that banks can use Ripple’s products without holding XRP and that escrow releases add supply every month.
Will XRP go back up?
Forecasting models expect little change by December: their year-end figures cluster around $1.26 to $1.46, close to today’s $1.31. A recovery toward $1.70 to $2.40 would most likely need renewed ETF inflows, activation of the XRP Ledger’s lending protocol and a broader crypto rebound. Traders on Kalshi price about a one-in-five chance that XRP trades above $2 before the end of 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the XRP price prediction for 2026?
The 2026 range is $1.10–$8.00 depending on the CLARITY Act outcome. Standard Chartered's bull case is $8 with full Senate passage and $10B in ETF inflows. The base case is $2.80. After the May 14 committee vote, Polymarket prices 2026 passage at 73%, with the critical deadline being the May 21 Memorial Day recess.
How high can XRP go?
By end of 2026: $2.80–$8 under current analyst models. By 2030: $10–$14 if XRPL becomes a meaningful global settlement layer. By 2035+: $100 is mathematically implausible at current circulating supply without extraordinary multi-decade adoption that would represent a $10 trillion market cap.
When will XRP rise?
XRP has already risen approximately 10% in the week following the CLARITY Act committee vote. The next leg depends on full Senate passage before May 21. If the bill clears before Memorial Day, the $1.65–$2.80 range becomes the near-term target. Continued stalling pushes price back toward $1.30 support.
What is the CLARITY Act and why does it matter for XRP?
The CLARITY Act codifies XRP's digital commodity status into federal law, making the SEC-CFTC March 17 classification irreversible by future agency action. It enables institutional custodians, multi-asset crypto trust products, and index-weight mechanical buying — creating structural demand that cannot be reversed by regulatory change.
Is XRP a good investment in 2026?
XRP has stronger institutional infrastructure than at any prior point: 7 spot ETFs, Goldman Sachs exposure, a near-complete legal resolution, and growing XRPL utility from RWA tokenization. The primary risks are legislative timing (CLARITY Act window), the value accrual gap (Ripple's revenue doesn't flow to XRP holders), and macro conditions affecting all risk assets. Suitable for investors with a 2–4 year horizon who believe in regulated digital payments infrastructure.
How many XRP are there?
XRP has a total supply of 100 billion tokens, with approximately 57.6 billion in circulation as of May 2026. The remainder is held by Ripple Labs in escrow accounts, released on a structured monthly schedule. Ripple regularly returns unsold escrow to new escrow wallets, extending the release timeline.
