Quick Answer: Polymath’s POLY token has been replaced by Polymesh (POLYX): POLY holders could upgrade 1:1 through a one way bridge that closed permanently on February 29, 2024, so a POLY price prediction today is really a POLYX question. POLYX trades near $0.032 as of October 30, 2026, with a market cap of about $42 million (#403 on CoinMarketCap), down about 46% in 2026 and about 96% below its March 2024 high. The two forecast models we track put POLYX between about $0.022 and $0.031 at the end of 2026, below today’s price, and between about $0.015 and $0.064 in 2030.
Polymath launched POLY in 2018 as an Ethereum token for issuing security tokens, digital versions of regulated assets such as shares or bonds. The project later built its own blockchain, Polymesh, which went live on October 28, 2021 and is run by the Polymesh Association, a Swiss non-profit. POLYX is that chain’s native token.
This update explains the POLY to POLYX migration, what is left of POLY, current POLYX data and the latest third party forecasts for 2026 to 2040.
Key Takeaways
- POLY to POLYX was 1:1 and one way. The Polymesh Association ran a “one-way 1:1 POLY:POLYX upgrade bridge,” which closed on February 29, 2024 after more than 890 million POLY had been bridged
- POLY is effectively frozen. CoinMarketCap shows no circulating supply, no market cap and no trading volume for POLY; un-upgraded tokens can no longer be converted
- POLYX trades near $0.032, down about 46% in 2026 and about 96% below its all-time high of $0.75 from March 31, 2024
- POLYX hit an all-time low of about $0.028 on August 18, 2026
- Polymesh v8, which the Polymesh Association calls its biggest upgrade since launch, went live on mainnet on July 22, 2026
- The two models we track put POLYX at about $0.022 to $0.031 for the end of 2026 and $0.015 to $0.064 for 2030
POLY vs POLYX: What Happened to Polymath?
| Item | Polymath (POLY) | Polymesh (POLYX) |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Ethereum (ERC-20 token) | Polymesh, its own layer 1 blockchain |
| Launched | 2018 | Mainnet live October 28, 2021 |
| Status | Upgrade bridge closed February 29, 2024 | Active |
| Conversion | 1:1 into POLYX, one way | Received upgraded POLY |
| CoinMarketCap data | No circulating supply, no volume | Rank #403, about $2.2M daily volume |
| Run by | Polymath | Polymesh Association (Switzerland) |
According to the Polymesh Association, Polymesh is “the world’s first public, permissioned blockchain built for regulated securities.” Its design builds identity checks into the chain, so that only verified participants can hold and trade regulated assets.
The upgrade ran for more than two years. In June 2023, the Association said the bridge was “intended to close on January 31, 2024” and that more than 721 million POLY had been upgraded. It later confirmed that the bridge “officially closed on February 29, 2024,” with over 890 million POLY bridged, and that the bridge module was being removed. Holders who missed the deadline “will miss the opportunity to upgrade their tokens forever,” the Association had warned.
CoinMarketCap still has a POLY page, but it shows a price of about $0.001 with zero circulating supply, zero market cap and no volume, which means the figure does not reflect an active market. If you still hold POLY on Ethereum, it cannot be converted through the closed bridge.

What Is New on Polymesh: The v8 Upgrade
On July 22, 2026, the Polymesh Association said that Polymesh v8 “is now live on Mainnet.” Its main changes, according to the Association:
- accounts can register their own on-chain identity without a separate customer due diligence (CDD) claim, and CDD providers are now called DID Registrars
- accounts can hold tokens and NFTs directly, without separate portfolios
- allowances let an account or smart contract spend a set amount on another account’s behalf
- a new contract engine runs Solidity code, with an Ethereum JSON-RPC proxy for Ethereum tools
- confidential assets based on zero knowledge proofs are available on testnet only
- balances and staking now use standard Polkadot SDK components
The changes bring Ethereum style tooling to a chain built for regulated assets. The announcement did not describe any change to POLYX supply. For context on how regulated assets are moving on chain, see our RWA tokenization news and our glossary entry on security tokens.

How this table is built: every row summarizes the published forecasts of the two models we track, CoinCodex (updated October 30, 2026) and CoinLore (updated October 30, 2026), both using prices within 1% of today’s, not targets of our own. The low is the lowest published figure, the mid is the average of CoinCodex’s December average and CoinLore’s base case, and the high is the highest figure. Speculative, not financial advice.
POLYX Price Prediction 2026
| Source | Low | Central | High |
|---|---|---|---|
| CoinCodex (December 2026) | $0.02821 | $0.03054 | $0.03191 |
| CoinLore (bear / base / bull) | $0.0130 | $0.0217 | $0.1216 |
Both central estimates are below today’s price. CoinCodex expects a December average of about $0.031, about 4% lower, and CoinLore’s base case of about $0.022 would be a fall of about a third. CoinLore’s bull case of $0.12 is the only figure close to the levels POLYX held in 2025. CoinCodex rates sentiment as bearish, with 4 bullish and 29 bearish signals and a 14 day RSI of about 31.
POLYX Price Prediction 2027 and 2028
CoinCodex turns more bearish after 2026, with December averages of about $0.018 for 2027 and $0.022 for 2028, falls of about 42% and 30% from today. CoinLore’s base cases are about $0.029 for 2027 and $0.041 for 2028, the second about 30% above today’s price.
POLYX Price Prediction 2030
| Source | Low | Central | High |
|---|---|---|---|
| CoinCodex (December 2030) | $0.01405 | $0.01478 | $0.01600 |
| CoinLore (bear / base / bull) | $0.0385 | $0.0642 | $0.3303 |
The models point in opposite directions for 2030. CoinCodex expects about $0.015, roughly half of today’s price, while CoinLore’s base case of about $0.064 would be about double. CoinLore’s bull case of $0.33 would still be less than half of the 2024 high.
All forecasts are third party model estimates, not investment advice.
POLYX Price Prediction 2035 and 2040
For 2035, CoinCodex projects a December average of about $0.033, near today’s price, while CoinLore’s base case is about $0.22. For 2040, CoinCodex expects about $0.048 and CoinLore about $0.51, with a bull case of $1.51. CoinLore’s own page quotes different ranges in its text and tables for these years, so treat them as rough scenarios.
What Drives the POLYX Price?
- Tokenization demand: Polymesh competes with Ethereum and other chains for issuers of tokenized securities; growth in real issuance would support fee and staking demand.
- Adoption of v8: the July 2026 upgrade opens Polymesh to Solidity developers, but its effect on activity is not yet visible in the price.
- Liquidity: POLYX has about $2.2 million in daily volume across 36 markets, led by Binance, Upbit and Bithumb.
- Staking rewards: new POLYX is minted only as proof of stake rewards, according to the Association, which adds a modest flow of supply.
- The wider market: small cap altcoins tend to fall harder than Bitcoin in weak markets.
Can POLYX Reach $1?
Not on any central forecast we track. At $1, POLYX would need a market cap of about $1.33 billion on today’s supply, about 32 times its current value and above its March 2024 peak of $0.75. The only figure above $1 is CoinLore’s 2040 bull case of $1.51.
| POLYX Price | Market Cap Needed (1.33B POLYX) | Multiple of Today’s Price |
|---|---|---|
| $0.10 | About $133M | About 3.2x |
| $0.75 (ATH) | About $997M | About 24x |
| $1.00 | About $1.33B | About 32x |
Key Risks of POLYX
- Long decline: about 96% below its high and down about 46% in 2026
- Niche market: Polymesh focuses on regulated assets, a market where Ethereum and other chains also compete for issuers
- Forecasts below today: both central 2026 estimates are under the current price
- Old POLY: tokens not upgraded before February 29, 2024 cannot be converted, and offers to “upgrade” them now should be treated as scams
- Liquidity: daily volume is modest relative to larger altcoins
Where to Buy POLYX
CoinMarketCap lists 36 POLYX markets, with the most volume on Upbit (POLYX/KRW), Binance (POLYX/USDT and POLYX/TRY), Bithumb, Gate and KuCoin. Availability depends on your country. Our ranking of the best crypto exchanges compares safety and fees, and our crypto wallets guide explains how to store tokens yourself. POLYX lives on the Polymesh chain, not Ethereum, so check that a wallet supports Polymesh before withdrawing.
If someone contacts you offering to convert old POLY, read our guide on how to verify crypto news and rumors first. The official bridge is closed.
Is Polymesh (POLYX) a Good Investment?
POLYX is a high risk, small cap token. The bull case is a chain built for regulated securities, a major 2026 upgrade, listings on large exchanges and a CoinLore model that sees about $0.064 in 2030. The bear case is a 96% fall from its high, both 2026 central forecasts below today’s price and a CoinCodex model that sees about $0.015 in 2030. Further losses are possible. Frequently Asked Questions
What happened to Polymath (POLY)?
Polymath’s POLY token was replaced by POLYX, the native token of Polymesh, a blockchain for regulated securities that went live on October 28, 2021. POLY holders could upgrade 1:1 through a one way bridge run by the Polymesh Association. The bridge closed permanently on February 29, 2024, after more than 890 million POLY had been converted.
Can I still convert POLY to POLYX?
No. The Polymesh Association closed the POLY to POLYX upgrade bridge on February 29, 2024 and removed the bridge module, warning that holders who missed the deadline would lose the chance to upgrade. CoinMarketCap shows no circulating supply or trading volume for POLY. Treat anyone offering to convert old POLY today as a likely scammer.
What is the Polymesh (POLYX) price prediction for 2026?
The two models we track both expect POLYX to end 2026 below its late October price of about $0.032. CoinCodex projects a December average of about $0.031, and CoinLore’s base case is about $0.022, with a bull case of $0.12. Both pages were updated on October 30, 2026. These are model outputs, not targets of our own.
What is the POLYX price prediction for 2030?
The models disagree. CoinCodex projects a December 2030 average of about $0.015, roughly half of the late October price, while CoinLore’s base case is about $0.064, roughly double, with a bull case near $0.33. The average of the two central figures is about $0.04. Long range forecasts for small tokens carry very large uncertainty.
Can POLYX reach $1?
Not on any central forecast we track. At $1, POLYX would need a market cap of about $1.33 billion, about 32 times its late October value and higher than at its March 2024 peak of $0.75. The only model figure above $1 is CoinLore’s 2040 bull case of $1.51, which is a scenario rather than an expected outcome.
What is Polymesh used for?
Polymesh is a public, permissioned blockchain built for regulated assets such as tokenized shares, bonds and funds. Identity checks are built into the chain, so only verified participants can hold and move these assets. POLYX pays network fees and secures the chain through proof of stake. The July 2026 v8 upgrade added support for Solidity smart contracts.
